I admit, i’m a believer in open source, and all that, but I’ve also believed that you should use the best tool for the job.
Hence, I use Quicken 2000 to manage my household finances. Lately I’ve kept it all in a Win4Lin session on my laptop.
Life is good. Except I’m now using the 2.4.0 Linux kernel. And Netraverse doesn’t have a patch out for 2.4 yet, so I can’t use Win4Lin. That’s OK =- I have VMWare. I use it for tests , but not regularly. Now I remember why – it’s dog slow, eats CPU resources, and sucks memory like a crackhead sucks the pipe.
Above and beyond that, I’m re-writing a buttload of database routines so that I can implement a “universal Connection pool” adapter for work. Cool beans. Except Turbine 2.1-dev isn’t backwards compatible. And so now I’m back-porting my code to 2.0, because Apache Cocoon uses 2.0, and I need Cooon as well.
Renee and I are talking about joining a Gym/Fitness club – we’re both out of shape, and have differnet goals. She can get away with tapes, but I can’t – I’m more interested in a “traditional” workout. Some strength building, some endurance building, the usual manly thing. *smirk*
We shall see.l
Save your gym money and just buy a gym/weight set/whatever from one of the manymany couch potatoes in Cary that buy them, don’t use, them, then dump them to triangle.forsale.
1) Nortel will reimburse us for membership fees
2) I have *NO* idea how to properly use the equiptment to get the results I want
3) I haven’t got any place except the attic to put said weights
4) It’s damn easy to look at it and say “Not tonight, I’ll do it in the morning…”
And that’s the *MAIN* reasons why I’m interested in joing a gym. All I need after that is someone to go with me (i.e. extra motivation), and I’m set *grin*
