excellent choices!

I discovered today that Mutt really does rule.

Egads. I use Vim as my primary editor (even on windows) and now Mutt as my main mail program. I hand edit sendmail.cf files instead of using M4, and am no longer afraid of DNS config files. Apache httpd.conf files no longer intimidate me, and I compile from source more often than not.

Bask in my geekness. Fear for my kids.

About Kevin Sonney

Kevin Sonney - who, contrary to popular opinion was NOT raised by wolves - grew up in central North Carolina. He fell into the technology field by accident in 1991, when he gave up the wild and crazy lifestyle of an on-air AM radio DJ to become a mundane technical support monkey. The technology industry has never really recovered from this. Kevin has worked for such names as IBM, Red Hat, webslingerZ, and Lulu Technologies (we won't mention the ones that didn't survive the experience). He currently works as a Linux Administrator for Apptio. In his spare time he rescues stray animals and plays video games with his two sons. His wife, we're sad to say, helps him get past the really hard bits. Kevin is still not very mundane, he just got better at hiding it.

same here on all accounts, except for sendmail. I did only sendmail.cf edits during sysadmin days @ ncsu and ibm, but have gotten lazy and used sendmail.mc edits for the last few edits. I like it mainly because I can paste it and the “run m4” command into emails to friends and coworkers that wanna know sendmail masquerading and at least have a half-warm-fuzzy that they’ll be able to pull it off, regardless of RH Linux version :)

Before I forget: I’m gonna make it to my first trilug meeting tomorrow. Any chance I can borrow the DBZ tapes? I’d still like to do lunch regardless :)

I edit my iptables scripts by hand, though… maybe that covers the use of sendmail.mc? :)

I’ll bring the tapes, and I’ll take a rain check on lunch for now *grin*. I’ll explain tonight.
