Ha ha ha

I finally found a faq that said “run the dmca program if the installer doesn’t”

I’ll be damned. Now to free up the *GIG* of disk space the fucker wants.

I love using oracle
I hate installing & managing oracle

About Kevin Sonney

Kevin Sonney - who, contrary to popular opinion was NOT raised by wolves - grew up in central North Carolina. He fell into the technology field by accident in 1991, when he gave up the wild and crazy lifestyle of an on-air AM radio DJ to become a mundane technical support monkey. The technology industry has never really recovered from this. Kevin has worked for such names as IBM, Red Hat, webslingerZ, and Lulu Technologies (we won't mention the ones that didn't survive the experience). He currently works as a Linux Administrator for Apptio. In his spare time he rescues stray animals and plays video games with his two sons. His wife, we're sad to say, helps him get past the really hard bits. Kevin is still not very mundane, he just got better at hiding it.

there’s a good amount of info that i’ve been wanting to link as comments to your posts, but oradoc.com has been dead for a little while now for some odd reason… it tends to be a little flaky, but not *this* flaky.

I used to work for Oracle, and totally know what you mean. I taught the DBA certification courses, and every week I’d show up at a new site ready to teach, but would end up cleaning up the existing installation or simply reinstalling all/every Monday morning. Amazing how much can go wrong with that monster. After being a DBA as long as I had before then, I should have – SHOULD HAVE – known better.

Ahh, hardest job I ever loved.

I wallow in misery. It is evil, and if the product specs didn’t require Oracle support, I’d slap something together & say to hell with it.

But no, I gotta be a good programmer, and actually verify that my code will work…assuming I can get the bitch installed & working right.

What’s your hourly rate? Not that the boss would approve it right now….
