Must be kind to fellow programmer.
Must respond with “thank you for finding bugs and posting long, drawn out messages to internal mailing list about them”
I swear, this *HAS* to be about face. Rather than call me out,. he’s poking holes in my code, to make me look bad. While the bugs are valid, he doesn’t need to post 45-50 line messages detailing how this is a bad thing.
I MUST NOT respond with “Thank you for taking the time to make me look like an amature to half the company. As I have no formal programmer training, it is obvious you are truly the superior being, with that big college degree, and time enough to attempt to publicly humiliate me. At least you were professional about it, and didn’t append nya-nya-nya! I didn’t write any big ugly bugs into my code.”
No, I must respond equally professionally, with “thank you for finding my bugs. I hope everyone learns from my mistakes.”
I am sorry that he has to result to such lame tactics to make himself feel better about himself. It is a pity that the world has to work this way. By not letting him see it usept you, you are taking the upper hand and being the better, more mature human being! congrats!
Well, going through it all, I’m now realizing he didn’t do it out of malice, from what I can tell. Just his way of getting the bugs fixed, I think.
*sigh*
