Damien is home. Until he opens his mouth, you can’t tell he’s lost half his jaw.

Well, OK,, his tongue hangs out and he drools like a monster, but he’s active, and wants *OUT* of his cage, and…

…I’ll be dammed, *HE’S EATING* – not assisted – he’s trying to eat by himself, and not doing a bad job at it.

Let me just say, I’ve had some good birthday presents – my first cat among them – but this is the best ever. If he lives out the next month, we’re going to analyze the bone he had removed, and see what it is/was growing in there.

About Kevin Sonney

Kevin Sonney - who, contrary to popular opinion was NOT raised by wolves - grew up in central North Carolina. He fell into the technology field by accident in 1991, when he gave up the wild and crazy lifestyle of an on-air AM radio DJ to become a mundane technical support monkey. The technology industry has never really recovered from this. Kevin has worked for such names as IBM, Red Hat, webslingerZ, and Lulu Technologies (we won't mention the ones that didn't survive the experience). He currently works as a Linux Administrator for Apptio. In his spare time he rescues stray animals and plays video games with his two sons. His wife, we're sad to say, helps him get past the really hard bits. Kevin is still not very mundane, he just got better at hiding it.

I’m so happy that he’s doing better. That’s great that you care so much for him. I wish all people cared for their animals like you do. Oh, and I didn’t get online yesterday, so HAPPY (late) BIRTHDAY!

That is WONDERFUL news!!! It sounds like he is not ready to leave you yet at ALL. I hope you had a wonderful birthday and I’m glad that this is the best present of all! :D

HAHAHA. No, not kitty treats for a bit yet. We’re still on thinned canned foor with special aditives to build him back up.

if they make kidney safe treats, though, I’ll be sure to give him one when he’s better for you.

  6. alchemist says:

I try, but I really shoudl ahve caught this sooner. if I had, we might have been able to save his jaw. But between the kidney his last summer and the new baby…

..I feel a little guilty sometimes, but right now, I’m just glad he’s feisty. *grin*
