Holy Shit

wZ programmer Donald Ball just resigned.

Now, Donald and I didn’t always get along, and certainly didn’t see eye-to-eye on a lot of things. But I have to admit, he’s one of the more talented developers I’ve met, and one of the last people I expected to leave the company.

But, as Scott (our sysadmin) pointed out – he has a degree and he has a house payment now.

He’s seeing the same financial realities I am. Actually, he’s likely to know more about where the company is (or is going) than I am because of his unique relationship with the owners.

But this is still somewhat of a complete surprise to me….

About Kevin Sonney

Kevin Sonney - who, contrary to popular opinion was NOT raised by wolves - grew up in central North Carolina. He fell into the technology field by accident in 1991, when he gave up the wild and crazy lifestyle of an on-air AM radio DJ to become a mundane technical support monkey. The technology industry has never really recovered from this. Kevin has worked for such names as IBM, Red Hat, webslingerZ, and Lulu Technologies (we won't mention the ones that didn't survive the experience). He currently works as a Linux Administrator for Apptio. In his spare time he rescues stray animals and plays video games with his two sons. His wife, we're sad to say, helps him get past the really hard bits. Kevin is still not very mundane, he just got better at hiding it.

that’s a *really* bad sign. Ick. And that means Donald’s now competing with me for a job! double ick! :)

No, he quit because he found another job. He’s already eat you and me to the punch.

    where?

Wow, I wouldn’t have predicted that would ever happen. This is a very very bad sign for wZ IMO. Memo to self: not worth applying to rhoworld if they have openings in my lines of work.
