Sunday morning revelations.

I have come to the realization, that while I have been going to church, I cannot be a Xtian. At least, not the Xtian they want me to be.

I believe there is one God with many faces. Freya, Jesus, Rama, Buddha, Mohamed, Lao Tzu, the burning bush, the tablets of gold, Thor, Odin, Vishnu….they are all aspects of the same being. God speaks in the language that the person can understand, and not in one book. One voice that speaks to all, and gives the same message : hope, peace, forgiveness, compassion, love.

Most of all Love.

once said that most Xtians were worshiping the Jesus who died, and not the one that came back, not the one that still lives, not the one that brought the final message that death is no obstacle to God, that the message isn’t the Cross.

The message is that Love conquerors all. That we should, in the words of Douglas Addams, be nice to each other. Love thy neighbor. He may not be the same color, the same sect, the same religion – love him all the same. Love all equally, as brothers and sisters.

Stop beating the “You must be a Xtian, the only values that are right are Xtian values, the only message that is right is the Bible, and if you aren’t a Xtian, start being one now before we start punishing you for it.”

I cannot be pro-Life in the way they would ask me to be pro-Life.
I cannot say that there is only one God, and his only earthly names are Jesus, the Father, and the Holy Spirit.
I cannot be asked to reject all that I know, all that I see, and all that I feel in my heart.
I *KNOW* I cannot be a Baptist.

I don’t know how I can break this to Renee. But I will try. And I will try to make it not sound like a cop-out because I don’t feel like spending two hours in church every Sunday *grin*.

About Kevin Sonney

Kevin Sonney - who, contrary to popular opinion was NOT raised by wolves - grew up in central North Carolina. He fell into the technology field by accident in 1991, when he gave up the wild and crazy lifestyle of an on-air AM radio DJ to become a mundane technical support monkey. The technology industry has never really recovered from this. Kevin has worked for such names as IBM, Red Hat, webslingerZ, and Lulu Technologies (we won't mention the ones that didn't survive the experience). He currently works as a Linux Administrator for Apptio. In his spare time he rescues stray animals and plays video games with his two sons. His wife, we're sad to say, helps him get past the really hard bits. Kevin is still not very mundane, he just got better at hiding it.

Well, no one has the right to tell you what to think. If you don’t believe what the Baptists do then there is no reason you should have to sit through their services every weekend!

Your vision is so optimistic…I sure wish I could think the same. The only thing I believe in is the thing I see at work: Entropy and chaos.

    Doomy doom doom…LOL!
