other stuff

Left work late – probably shouldn’t have been talking in the parking lot, but there you go. Something about being able to hang with Bascha again, and the fact that almost everyone in the office is cool.

Got home, watched SpongeBob with the boys, with the full intent of cleaning up, feeding the cat, grabbing a snack (I forgot to take dinner with, and didn’t feel like being any more late by stopping on the way home) and playing KH.

Jacob has a cold. OK, no problem, he’s extra cranky. Get Ray off to bed, take Jacob with me on the pickup/tidy-up I do after Ray crashes. Just as I finish that, and start to think “sandwich” Renee tell me I need to go to the store.

She needs some female products. No worries, right? Drugstore is 3 miles, it’s only 9, they’re open until 9:30 and it’s not a problem.

WRONG. They close at 9, and so I’m off to Wal*Mart in Siler City. it’s getting close to 9:30, I haven’t eaten dinner, I’m getting cranky because I’ve not eaten, she’s cranky because she’s uncomfortable, and the baby has a cold. but it’s OK – I’ll get food there and her stuff and it’ll all be good.

Get to Wal*Mart. Find half but not everything she needs near the tampons. Remember that she told me to check near the condoms. Find even more stuff there, including just the right kind of Monastat and the UTI Relief OTC product. Now, for the Deli. Grab food, start walking toward the end of the store I came in on. Three registers open, and The one nearest the exit is crowded. Start back toward the middle one. *JUST* before I get there, this guy pulls in with his cart and 400 items. And I mean the SOB cut my walking with a small basket off. So, back to the register by the Deli where I started. Open lane. She rings me up…and I’m $10 short on cash. So I have to write a check. At least I was the only one in line.

Exit the store on the opposite end of the parking lot. As I hike cross country, listen to the bored kids cruising the parking lot. if you thought Raleigh was boring when you were under 21, I guess Siler City is worse. Finally get to eat dinner on the way home.

By the time I get home, it’s nearly 10:30. jacob isn’t asleep yet, so I move the PS2 so Renee see the game too. (Finally) Crash out about Midnight, wake up to the alarm this morning.

About Kevin Sonney

Kevin Sonney - who, contrary to popular opinion was NOT raised by wolves - grew up in central North Carolina. He fell into the technology field by accident in 1991, when he gave up the wild and crazy lifestyle of an on-air AM radio DJ to become a mundane technical support monkey. The technology industry has never really recovered from this. Kevin has worked for such names as IBM, Red Hat, webslingerZ, and Lulu Technologies (we won't mention the ones that didn't survive the experience). He currently works as a Linux Administrator for Apptio. In his spare time he rescues stray animals and plays video games with his two sons. His wife, we're sad to say, helps him get past the really hard bits. Kevin is still not very mundane, he just got better at hiding it.

Laura has not sent me out on a midnight gynoproduct run yet, we’ve been together for *almost* three years. holy shit.

When I would drive back to boone lateish at night I would stop in North Wilkesboro (Is there a south wilkesboro?) to get something to eat and take a leak. The kids up there would be crusing the walmart parking lot too. The ricer cars were great.

The Super K-mart in Garner has to have the slowest, least amout of cashiers of any place I’ve been. I think it’s open 24 hours so they can get everyone through the line.

You think they were bad in Wilkesboro, you should’ve seen ’em in Morganton. It looked like a car show. Accent lighting, kids with 15″s in the trunk, window decals, hydraulics….
