Handled the bills and household money today. Fun.
The usual at work.
Reviewing for my RHCE exam tomorrow. More work for if/when I pass.
I sincerely hope it’s a “when,” but since I started working @RH, and I’ve seen how much I don’t know compared to everyone else on the tech side, I’m a lot less confident than I was. Walking in, I was “can pass without issue.” Tonight it’s “I don’t know everything, and I’m going to FAIL”
No pressure. If I fail, I fail, and try again next time. Gonna have a lot of face to save with the reps if I don’t pass, though.
About Kevin Sonney
Kevin Sonney - who, contrary to popular opinion was NOT raised by wolves - grew up in central North Carolina. He fell into the technology field by accident in 1991, when he gave up the wild and crazy lifestyle of an on-air AM radio DJ to become a mundane technical support monkey. The technology industry has never really recovered from this.
Kevin has worked for such names as IBM, Red Hat, webslingerZ, and Lulu Technologies (we won't mention the ones that didn't survive the experience). He currently works as a Linux Administrator for Apptio. In his spare time he rescues stray animals and plays video games with his two sons.
His wife, we're sad to say, helps him get past the really hard bits.
Kevin is still not very mundane, he just got better at hiding it.
Reviewing for my RHCE exam
So THAT’S why you finally came around to not munging sendmail.cf by hand. :)
You shouldn’t have any trouble.
And don’t listen to anybody complain about munging sendmail.cf by hand. When I switched back from qmail (which is auditable, sure, but it’s such a PITA to make it DWIM…), I learned that my brother was actually using qmail features. I learned more than I wanted about sendmail.cf that day.
Naw, I stopped munching sendmail.cf by hand because I didn’t feel like re-learing the syntax for 8.11+ – I (now) think it’s a lot easier to let m4 generate it than have to re-learn sendmail.cf every time they change the freaking structure.
In other words, I’m lazy, and sendmail.mc is (in theory) portable. *grin*
Of course, I started hacking sendmail.cf because in RHL 6.x linuxconf modified sendmail.cf directly, and so when I stopped using linuxconf, I thought that was the only way *TO* do it I now know that linuxconf is EEEEVIL….
The only thing I really need to learn any more is the proper way to do vistual domain in spostfix, and I’d be there in a hearbeat. Postfix is really, really nice, by migrating my mail setup is a bigger PITA than hacking sendmail.cf right now.
And anyway, I don’t think mailscanner runs on postfix….yet.
Good luck!!!!
