i forgot to mention that on Friday I broke down and bought the 2″ Go board I’ve been staring at at Games Galore for the past two months.

Now all I need is a proper set of stones, and I’m done for a while. I think.

I think.

About Kevin Sonney

Kevin Sonney - who, contrary to popular opinion was NOT raised by wolves - grew up in central North Carolina. He fell into the technology field by accident in 1991, when he gave up the wild and crazy lifestyle of an on-air AM radio DJ to become a mundane technical support monkey. The technology industry has never really recovered from this. Kevin has worked for such names as IBM, Red Hat, webslingerZ, and Lulu Technologies (we won't mention the ones that didn't survive the experience). He currently works as a Linux Administrator for Apptio. In his spare time he rescues stray animals and plays video games with his two sons. His wife, we're sad to say, helps him get past the really hard bits. Kevin is still not very mundane, he just got better at hiding it.

    I hate you. -_-

    Okay, I don’t, but still… I want a nice board! ;_; I have a crappy $20 set I bought at a game store, and I haven’t been able to convince myself that I need a better board yet. -_-

    Is it a really nice board? ;_;

    Well, it’s not a proper board, since it’s actually about three bonded pieces of wood, but it’s nice enough. And the coating they use hides any blemishes.

    It’s definately better than the paper one that came with my Ing tournament stones, and better than the folding wood 1/4″ board I was using with my 8mm glass stones.

    When i can afford Shin-kaya or Katsura or Agathas I plan on getting one of those. About the same time I can afford the 8mm or 9mm slate & shell stones. It’s not the cost of the stones (about 120 US in Japan), but the shipping and import fees that will actually kill you…
