So the Pack I’m working with is going to be losing it’s committee chair in Feb when his kid graduates to Boy Scouts.
I had offered that “if they can’t find anyone else” I would consider committee chair – figuring that in late January, they’d either have someone, or I’d take it.
I didn’t expect them to offer it to me last night, but they did. I don’t think I’m going to accept, based on a couple of things :
1) There’s plenty of time left to find someone else
2) I would, on paper, have to give up den leader for my Tiger Cubs
3) I woudl have less hands-on with the boys
As an alternative, The Cub Master (who is a fantastic guy) expressed that he envisioned me going down my original path of Den Leader(s)->Asst. Cub Master->Cub Master.
The alternative is what my heart tells me to do, and I am complimented greatly that he saw that in me. And I feel validated that what I’m doing is right on that front.
Plus I love working directly with the kids. It’s not something I would ahve thought I’d enjoy quite so much.
I think I know my answer – answer with my heart and not with my head, as it were.
Now to move my desk and plan tonights meeting….
