Just so you know….

…cel phone is on the fritz again. I swear to god, if a hard reset doesn’t fix it this time, I’m getting the cheap-ass Nokia. I’m sure I can get my phonebook on it somehow.

And anyway, the Nokia has some nice covers/faceplates, and the Kyocera doesn’t. All I need is a PHONE these days. Convergant devices are nice, but the whole sync-with-laptop-no-home-wait-won’t-talk-to-corp-calendar-solution shit is too much to mess with, and so I’m gonna stick with the PAPER (I know, I’m a Luddite) calendaring solution and a plain fucking phone.

GROWL.

Adding insult to injury, the Select Comfort is fubar, and I’m hoping R got through to them to get a replacement part. Otherwise I need to call and hold for them. *sigh*

All this, and it’s just barely 10:30….

About Kevin Sonney

Kevin Sonney - who, contrary to popular opinion was NOT raised by wolves - grew up in central North Carolina. He fell into the technology field by accident in 1991, when he gave up the wild and crazy lifestyle of an on-air AM radio DJ to become a mundane technical support monkey. The technology industry has never really recovered from this. Kevin has worked for such names as IBM, Red Hat, webslingerZ, and Lulu Technologies (we won't mention the ones that didn't survive the experience). He currently works as a Linux Administrator for Apptio. In his spare time he rescues stray animals and plays video games with his two sons. His wife, we're sad to say, helps him get past the really hard bits. Kevin is still not very mundane, he just got better at hiding it.

It’s a Motorola, and so was the phone I had for three whole years before I got this one. It uses a SIM, so it was trivial to save the phone numbers that were in the phone to the SIM and then I just moved the SIM to a new phone.

Good luck. I am with you. I just want a goddamned phone, I do not want a coffeemaker, massager, or anything else done by the device. Though I do like the alarm clock setting on my new one.

To be honest, I really, really love the whole phone with a Palm device in it conceptually. I just think Kyocera makes a crappy device.

When this contract is up, I think I’ll buy a cheap-ass Nokia and a Gameboy DS. Different Games, but just as portable….

Don’t forget that having just a phone is so retro it’s cool…

I bought a palm pilot while i was at archadeck, but i’m not even using it now, mostly b/c it won’t sync wiht the powerbook without some fangling.

I’m using a paper calander too, i luv it.
