reboot, Rinse, Repeat

Ah yes, the joys of updating Windows XP one it’s installed. I love how you have to install some 20+ updates to Update 1 before it even offers you Update 2.

But there will be Dawn of War later today, and a plethora of WoW updates.

About Kevin Sonney

Kevin Sonney - who, contrary to popular opinion was NOT raised by wolves - grew up in central North Carolina. He fell into the technology field by accident in 1991, when he gave up the wild and crazy lifestyle of an on-air AM radio DJ to become a mundane technical support monkey. The technology industry has never really recovered from this. Kevin has worked for such names as IBM, Red Hat, webslingerZ, and Lulu Technologies (we won't mention the ones that didn't survive the experience). He currently works as a Linux Administrator for Apptio. In his spare time he rescues stray animals and plays video games with his two sons. His wife, we're sad to say, helps him get past the really hard bits. Kevin is still not very mundane, he just got better at hiding it.

    I feel your pain. Literally.

I’m building a new XP machine for a client whose caps went bad on her old pc. dding the disk over to a new drive (SATA) doesn’t work, so I’m having to do it from scratch.

    PLUS

The in-laws brought down a total heap of shit PC from one of their friends and I’m trying to clean it up. two partitions on the drive, one 4gb, the other 14gb. Guess which one the OS is on.

You do realize that you could have applied the SP2 redist first and skipped the first 20+ updates. Of course that means you have to have the redist laying around the LAN somewhere.
