And the deer in the headlights award goes to…

Monday Night, Monthly Cub Scout Pack Meeting. Yours truly is working out all the odds and ends as he’s the official MC for the evening. The cubmaster walks over and we have a quick chat.

He’s stepping down to take over as committee chair. As of March 1, I’ll be Cubmaster. He will be announcing that durring his “last” Cubmaster Moment.

I thought I had at least 3 months left. Now I’m alternately excited, panicy, terrified and giddy. I have some big plans on how to have more fun and make it more exciting for the boys. As soon as I get pasat the “oh crap now what” shocked stage in my brain.

Now to just make it happen….

About Kevin Sonney

Kevin Sonney - who, contrary to popular opinion was NOT raised by wolves - grew up in central North Carolina. He fell into the technology field by accident in 1991, when he gave up the wild and crazy lifestyle of an on-air AM radio DJ to become a mundane technical support monkey. The technology industry has never really recovered from this. Kevin has worked for such names as IBM, Red Hat, webslingerZ, and Lulu Technologies (we won't mention the ones that didn't survive the experience). He currently works as a Linux Administrator for Apptio. In his spare time he rescues stray animals and plays video games with his two sons. His wife, we're sad to say, helps him get past the really hard bits. Kevin is still not very mundane, he just got better at hiding it.

You’ll be ok. Seriously. Just remember these eight words…. attend rountables -delegate jobs -know your district executive.

Don’t ask the parents if they “want” to do something. They rearely do. Just tell them cheerfully “I need you to do (bring, etc)…. and most of them will just go ahead and do it. (sometimes you can replace cheerfully with the side-speak attitude ‘I know you’re the one I can really depend on to get this special thing done…’ works 90% of the time)

Have lots of fun. Everyone else will be, so you do it too.

    – Already attending roundtables
    – Already delegating
    – know but avoid my DE (because he’s useless)

The rest should be cake now hat we have a CC that’s actually going to be a CC, you know?
