Saber rattling

“Today, the Iranian people is the owner of nuclear technology. Those who want to talk with our people should know what people they are talking to. If some believe they can keep talking to the Iranian people in the language of threats and aggressiveness, they should know that they are making a bitter mistake. If they have not realized this by now, they soon will, but then it will be too late. Then they will realize that they are facing a vigilant, proud people.” — Iranian President Ahmadinejad, Aug 1, 2006

Video here – anyone reading know Arabic well enough to check the accuracy of the translation? Crowd reactions are obviously scripted.

I sincerely hope he’s bullshitting. Ever since he set the August 22 date for discussions on the Iranian nuclear program, I’ve been suspicious. And other bits of his speech would indicate he’s going to make a big, messy boom…

The propaganda is in full swing on both sides, and I think we (the peace loving citizens of the US, and the World) are about to see the shit hit the fan. Both the US and Iran are now being run by Religious Extremists. Bush is known to follow the Apocalyptic Christian movement, and Ahmadinejad follows the reciprocal Islamic movement.

This won’t be like any war of the past. What is coming is well and truly a Holy way, where the so-called faithful will claim to battle for the Soul. And many, many innocents will die. And for what?

Misguided power mad zealots. And nothing more.

About Kevin Sonney

Kevin Sonney - who, contrary to popular opinion was NOT raised by wolves - grew up in central North Carolina. He fell into the technology field by accident in 1991, when he gave up the wild and crazy lifestyle of an on-air AM radio DJ to become a mundane technical support monkey. The technology industry has never really recovered from this. Kevin has worked for such names as IBM, Red Hat, webslingerZ, and Lulu Technologies (we won't mention the ones that didn't survive the experience). He currently works as a Linux Administrator for Apptio. In his spare time he rescues stray animals and plays video games with his two sons. His wife, we're sad to say, helps him get past the really hard bits. Kevin is still not very mundane, he just got better at hiding it.

I’d like to hope calmer heads will prevail. I wasn’t aware of any particular religious theme from Bush.. only that he’s not quite the brightest bulb in the box and has a bad case of hoof-in-mouth disease. As for the Iranians… they kill their own sisters, mothers and wives when they get raped. And they continue to rape women when they know what will happen to them. No respect for human life. That’s what scares me.

In the meantime… I just hope for the best.

Not much i can say, but that’s scary as hell. It sounds like the scared kid that is used to being beat up, walking into a lunchroom w/ a machine gun. Saying, “respect me now, or I will use it.”

Yeah, whatever. We have the capability of destroying Iran without nukes. With nukes, we could make most of the Middle East a giant fucking glowing crater.

And the little bitches in Iran, Iraq and so-on are all well aware of it. They just have to pretend they are big boys.

Bush would ultimately be too scared to do it. He’ll do something half-assed and screwed up and leave the mess for the next sucker, er, president to clean-up.

Frankly, with 6 billion people on this planet, losing a few hundred million would hardly make a hiccup…
