About Kevin Sonney

Kevin Sonney - who, contrary to popular opinion was NOT raised by wolves - grew up in central North Carolina. He fell into the technology field by accident in 1991, when he gave up the wild and crazy lifestyle of an on-air AM radio DJ to become a mundane technical support monkey. The technology industry has never really recovered from this. Kevin has worked for such names as IBM, Red Hat, webslingerZ, and Lulu Technologies (we won't mention the ones that didn't survive the experience). He currently works as a Linux Administrator for Apptio. In his spare time he rescues stray animals and plays video games with his two sons. His wife, we're sad to say, helps him get past the really hard bits. Kevin is still not very mundane, he just got better at hiding it.

Ping the admiral about it…. he may be able to help…

Good grief dude! First the Tungsten a while back and now this. Perhaps it’s time to make sure you only buy cool electronic gadgets along with really good cases for them? I’m sure mine would have the same fate if I didn’t do that with both my Palm and iPod….

I dropped my iPod (looks like the same generation) into the toilet. Had a couple of horizontal bars of dead pixels, but otherwise still played like a champ. I eventually gave it to my niece.

    Don’t tell her she’s got the poop-pod.

  9. alchemist says:

Not really. 3rd gen w/cracked screen? About the best he can do is help me get the best discount on a replacement. 20% if I can get help from a student/student ID person…

  10. alchemist says:

Good cases have rarely helped. At least, they didn’t for my Kyocera Smart hones or Palm IIIs.

On the flip side, this iPod is several years out of warranty, so it’s not like I didn’t get my moneys worth…

    Dude… Sucks to be you.

Oh wait, you already said that. :)
