About Kevin Sonney

Kevin Sonney - who, contrary to popular opinion was NOT raised by wolves - grew up in central North Carolina. He fell into the technology field by accident in 1991, when he gave up the wild and crazy lifestyle of an on-air AM radio DJ to become a mundane technical support monkey. The technology industry has never really recovered from this. Kevin has worked for such names as IBM, Red Hat, webslingerZ, and Lulu Technologies (we won't mention the ones that didn't survive the experience). He currently works as a Linux Administrator for Apptio. In his spare time he rescues stray animals and plays video games with his two sons. His wife, we're sad to say, helps him get past the really hard bits. Kevin is still not very mundane, he just got better at hiding it.

It’s kinda late to start promoting now. Should we reschedule?

  6. alchemist says:

I’ve been pimping it grass roots for a while. Just not with the fliers and things. I think we can still get a good crowd this “late” in the game. And if it flops, I do it again in October with more lead-in time.

The bar for success this year is double last year. Last Year I did $130. This year that would be $260. With a recommended donation of $5/person, that’s…53 people? I think that’s do-able. Last year was $3/person, and $120 at the door, or 40 people (with a extra $10 donation).

    Thoughts?

Okay, that’s cool. However, I think this is t same night Voltaire will be in Durham. Most of the crowd that might come to see me will more likely go to Voltaire.

  8. alchemist says:

Voltaire is Friday night at Ringside (so sayeth the Voltaire myspace) so I think we’re good.

  9. lauramander says:

Oh good! Because I really wanna go see Voltaire.

  10. alchemist says:

you can do both. And then hand out fliers, because it’ll be done tonight if I ahve to do it, dammit.
