The die is cast…

I ordered some Obama t-shirts and stickers today, and donated to the campaign.

I must resist the urge to torment my father (a staunch Republican and a firm beleiver that George W. has been good for the country) with this new gear….although the imp in me says he really needs a bumpersticker on his new car…..

About Kevin Sonney

Kevin Sonney - who, contrary to popular opinion was NOT raised by wolves - grew up in central North Carolina. He fell into the technology field by accident in 1991, when he gave up the wild and crazy lifestyle of an on-air AM radio DJ to become a mundane technical support monkey. The technology industry has never really recovered from this. Kevin has worked for such names as IBM, Red Hat, webslingerZ, and Lulu Technologies (we won't mention the ones that didn't survive the experience). He currently works as a Linux Administrator for Apptio. In his spare time he rescues stray animals and plays video games with his two sons. His wife, we're sad to say, helps him get past the really hard bits. Kevin is still not very mundane, he just got better at hiding it.

Suppress the imp. Some jerk slapped a bumper sticker on my car once and it was seriously annoying to find it there when I came out to the parking lot.

Uhh… While I sympathize on principle, I feel compelled to mention that

    1. Although I can testify that bumper stickers do normally come off easily if you hit them with a hair dryer for a few minutes, car-themed pranks are ill-advised when the car’s a luxury vehicle on lease; and

    2. Even if not, he’d know it was you, and dude, he knows where you live.

Of course, now that you’ve mentioned it, I could do it, and then tell your father about this blog post, and sit back and watch the fireworks…

Get an Obama magnet and slap that on his car. It will convey the same message and not mess up the car any. O:-)

A prank, while perhaps fun, will accomplish nothing. Your father seemed at least rational when I met him. Perhaps you can find some way to sway him.

Seriously. There are some prominent conservative bloggers (notably Andrew Sullivan) who are totally over the moon for Obama. Find some of their stuff and email it to him. Personally I recommend:

Goodbye to All That: Why Obama Matters.

    The Rise of the Obamacons.
