After two years of fighting over a medical bill, we win, and the practice looses, and no lawyers were employed.
Ray’s original Pediatrician’s office has been trying to squeeze money out of us for two years, because of an error in their billing department.
In late 1998 my employer switched from one Blue Cross/Blue Shield plan to a different one. We told the office multiple times to bill the new plan.
They didn’t, and things got rejected because the office kept billing the old plan.
We get bills from the office because BC/BS won’t pay for services. Many phone calls, bills, and stress ensues.
We finally get that right, and they bill the newer plan. By this time, I’ve changed jobs twice, and we aren’t even on that plan any more.
BC/BS accepts the billing, but denies coverage because the time of service has expired, and they only pay for things after a certain time period.
We get more letters from them that we owe for coverage. I make some phone calls to their billing department. I never get a reply.
We get another bill while on vacation. I leave a unhappy message on the practice administrator’s voice mail.
She calls me back, and informs us that the practice will eat the charges, and we won’t hear from them again.
Game over, I win.
